I'm a Los Angeles-based Boudoir photographer. As a sexual assault survivor, I have been on my own empowerment journey. And now, as a Boudoir photographer, I want to help other women embrace their bodies and sensuality.
As someone who has photographed numerous boudoir sessions, I can confidently say that a Bridal Boudoir session is one of the most empowering experiences a bride, like yourself, can have leading up to her wedding day. If you’re on the fence about whether to do one, let me tell you why it is worth it!
First and foremost, a bridal boudoir session is all about you. Yes, it will make a beautiful gift to your partner, but it’s also an incredible opportunity to celebrate and empower yourself. A wedding takes months of preparation; it is arduous and takes meticulous planning. Your Bridal Boudoir session is the perfect way to freeze time, and commemorate your confidence, strength, and beauty. Your gorgeous photographs will always remind you of how amazing, sexy, and beautiful you are, inside and out. They will provide another fond memory of this special point in your life.
The majority of brides who do Boudoir sessions, gift their Boudoir photographs to their partner on the morning of their wedding. Close your eyes for a second and picture their surprise when they open that album, when they see you photographed in an intimate, sensual, and sophisticated way. The gift of Boudoir photographs, is personal, thoughtful, totally unforgettable and shows immense trust. To make it even more special, you can wear your wedding lingerie or bring your partner’s clothing to your session. There are so many ways to incorporate them, whether it is their clothing, their favorite color, their favorite set of your lingerie.
Boudoir photography is not solely about the final photographs. Rather it is about the experience. It is going to feel intimidating at first, at least it does for most women, but that is when the magic takes place. Once you start warming up, getting used to being in front of the camera, trusting that I will guide you through the entire session and make sure you look amazing, you will feel so powerful and in control. I will hold your hand from start to finish, but you get to control how bold or playful you want to be. If it is an outdoor Boudoir session on the beach and you want to dance around in your lingerie, be my guest, and similarly if you want to wear bold red lipstick the whole time, go for it.
The confidence from a Boudoir session is long-lasting. Beyond just the photographs, there is a level of confidence and self-assurance that comes from being able to do the Boudoir session in the first place. So, whether you are in gorgeous lingerie or cozied up in a blanket on your couch, you get to showcase your true, unfiltered self and remember that you did that. A lot of women just dream about it, but are too fearful to actually hire the photographer and do the session. So, if you take the steps to hire a Boudoir photographer, you should already be proud of yourself.
To be frank, the average woman is worried about looking awkward and feeling uncomfortable in front of a camera. This is amplified when, you are wearing your lingerie in front of the camera. To be completely transparent, that feeling may never go away, at least the anticipatory anxiety. Every client I have had, has expressed that initially they were worried and unsure about doing a Boudoir session, but working with me during their session, made them feel beautiful, sexy, and empowered.
So take this as an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the camera and get more confident in front of it before your wedding.
Every woman’s femininity means something different to her, and thus how you choose to express it will vary. A Bridal Boudoir session allows you complete control over how your sensuality is presented. Some women prioritize Wedding-day detail shots, those with her veil or wedding shoes. Whereas, other women opt for an outdoor boudoir session that allows them to reconnect with nature, and highlight their inquisitive personality. Other ways to personalize your Bridal Boudoir session is to include props. Your prop could be anything from your fiancé’s favorite book or an article of their clothing.
After your Boudoir session, we will go through every photograph together and choose your favorites. Those favorites will go into a 10×10 heirloom album custom designed just for you. My favorite part of an album, is that it reminds you of your power and confidence, and doubles as a sexy gift for your fiancé that is a token of your love. If you like the idea of an album, but do not want a full-sized one, I offer luxury mini 4×4 albums. Your fiancé can keep this album with them at all times, so if they want to a sneak a peek before they go into work or into the gym they can.
If an album is not your cup of tea, then don’t fret. I also create custom wall art and print boxes. A matted print box is a custom fit fabric box containing six to thirty prints. This option allows you to be even more selective if you want to be. So, I do not bore you to death, I won’t get into all of the cute trinkets, like a Boudoir calendar that we can create for your fiancé.
To further personalize your Bridal Boudoir album, I love to include messages from you to your fiancé. This could be one main message at the start or end of the album, or little messages throughout. This also demonstrates to your partner, how much effort and thought went into this gift.
If the thought of doing a Bridal Boudoir session has crossed your mind, my advice is simply to go for it! You’ll walk away feeling confident, empowered, and ready to start the next phase of your life.
It is your moment, and you should feel every bit as beautiful and confident as you truly are.
