10 Reasons to Book Your New Year’s Boudoir Shoot in 2026

Los Angeles Boudoir Photography

The saying goes “new year, new me,” and every January most people scramble to set resolutions that are really just a list of things they have decided are wrong with them. I want to offer you something better. As a Los Angeles boudoir photographer, and as a survivor who spent years learning to love and appreciate my own body, I have watched a New Year’s boudoir session do what a gym membership never could. It does not ask you to become someone new. It reminds you that the woman you already are is worth celebrating right now.

A New Year’s boudoir shoot is one of the best ways to put “new year, new me” into real action and start the year feeling as confident as possible. Whether you close out the old year or open the new one with a session, it becomes a turning point rather than another item on a to-do list. Here are ten honest reasons I think booking a boudoir session is the most powerful way to walk into 2026.

1. You Start the Year Choosing Self-Love Over Self-Criticism

Most New Year’s energy is built on the idea that you are not enough yet. You will be lovable once you lose the weight, fix the skin, hit the goal. A boudoir session flips that entirely. You show up as you are, without filters or a waiting list of conditions, and you let yourself be seen. That single act of saying “I am worth this now” sets a tone for the whole year. Self-love is not something you earn after a transformation. It is the starting line, and boudoir is a beautiful place to draw it. A relaxing spa day is a simple first step, so here are the best spas in Los Angeles for women to build into your new-year reset.

2. Confidence Is the Result, Not the Requirement

The thing I hear most often is “I have always wanted to do boudoir, but I am not confident enough yet.” I want to gently push back on that. Confidence is not the ticket you need to get in the door. It is what you leave with. Some of my most nervous, hesitant first-timers walk out standing taller than anyone, because the transformation is so visible when you did not think you had it in you. You do not need to feel ready. You need to be willing, and I will guide the rest.

3. Every Body Gets Celebrated, at Every Age and Stage

Boudoir is not about squeezing your body into a conventional beauty standard. It is about honoring the body you actually live in. Every curve, every scar, every stretch mark, every soft place and strong place gets to be art. I photograph women in their twenties and women in their sixties, and one of my favorite clients described her session at sixty-one as an investment in herself and a celebration of who she is now. There is no expiration date on feeling beautiful, and there is no body type that is disqualified.

4. Stop Waiting for the “Dream Body” That Keeps Moving

I hear it constantly: “I will book once I lose fifteen pounds.” And I hate this notion, truly. What even is a dream body? It is a finish line that keeps sliding forward, so you never actually arrive. Your body is beautiful now. It has carried you through everything, and its biology is more complicated and more amazing than you give it credit for. You do not need to hit an arbitrary weight goal first in order to book the boudoir shoot. I get this question so often that I wrote a whole post on whether you need to lose weight before your boudoir shoot, and the short answer is no. Meeting yourself where you are is the whole point.

5. It Marks a Milestone Worth Remembering

A New Year’s session is a natural way to commemorate a chapter. Maybe you turned a big birthday, survived a hard year, ended something that was hurting you, or finally got the promotion. Boudoir turns that private victory into something you can see and hold. If you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant soon, maternity boudoir is the perfect way to create celebrate this moment, and there are endless maternity outfit ideas to make it your own. Whatever the milestone, it deserves more than a mental note.

6. It Is a Deeply Meaningful Gift

A boudoir session works beautifully as a gift to yourself or someone you love. Gifting the images to a partner is a way of sharing your beauty, your strength, and your vulnerability, and trusting them with something genuinely personal and raw. But my favorite version of this gift is the one you give yourself. It is a reminder that you are deserving of admiration, and that you do not need anyone’s permission to feel adored. Gift certificates are also available in any amount if you want to hand this experience to someone who needs it.

7. You Reconnect With Your Sensuality

Boudoir is about so much more than looking sexy for a camera. It is a chance to reconnect with a part of yourself that gets buried under work, caregiving, and the endless mental load women carry. So many of us go years without feeling sensual in our own skin. A session invites that part of you back to the surface, not for anyone else, but because she is yours and she has been waiting. Rediscovering that piece of your identity can be surprisingly emotional, in the best way.

8. It Helps You Release What You Have Been Carrying

The New Year is a natural moment to set down old insecurities. Boudoir is a vulnerable experience, and that vulnerability is exactly what gives it power. When you let yourself be that exposed in front of a near stranger, something shifts. The doubts you have hauled around for years start to look smaller than the strength underneath them. Many women tell me they walked in carrying a lifetime of body-image baggage and walked out having quietly put some of it down. That is a real fresh start, not a resolution you abandon by February.

9. Your Body Tells a Story Worth Honoring

Whether you have been through major life changes, had children, or are simply getting older, your body is a record of everything you have lived. If you recently had a child, boudoir might be the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your body after it did something extraordinary. Honestly, boudoir is an absolute must do for all the mothers out there who have spent so long pouring into everyone else. Your body is not something to fix before it is worthy of a photograph. It is worthy exactly as it is, in this chapter.

10. It Is the One Resolution That Celebrates You

Let me be honest: most resolutions are built on self-punishment, and most of them fizzle out. So this year, set a different kind of intention. Instead of a goal designed to change you, choose one that celebrates who you already are and meets you where you stand right now. The most powerful way to begin a new year is with positivity, self-love, and a little defiance against the voice that says you are not ready. Boudoir is fun, creative, and a genuine step outside your comfort zone, and it opens a level of confidence that resolutions rarely deliver.

What a New Year’s Boudoir Session Is Actually Like

If you are picturing an awkward, exposing photoshoot, let me reset that image. My sessions are fully guided from the first pose to the last. You do not need to know what you are doing. I demonstrate every pose and have you mirror me, we start simple and build as you relax, and I check in constantly so you can pause, breathe, or adjust anything that does not feel right. Before the shoot, you fill out a questionnaire about your favorite and least favorite features so I can pose you in ways that flatter what you love and downplay what you do not. If you are new to all of this, my breakdown of what a boudoir photoshoot is and the most common four questions is a good place to start.

My studio is a private space on the Westside of Los Angeles, near Venice and Santa Monica, and I also shoot at beaches and mountain locations across Southern California when a client wants something more connected to nature. Makeup, wardrobe styling, and the guided session are all part of the experience, so you can just show up and be taken care of.

How Much Does a Boudoir Session Cost?

My session fee is $750, which covers your pre-session planning, professional makeup, wardrobe styling, and the fully guided shoot itself. Images and artwork are chosen separately after you see your photos, because I never want you committing to a collection before you have fallen in love with the images. Digital collections start at $700 and physical artwork collections start at $1,900, with most clients investing somewhere between $3,000 and $5,000 or more depending on how many images they cannot bear to leave behind.

When Will I See My Photos?

About a week after your shoot, you come back for a private reveal and ordering appointment. You will see your soft proofs, narrow down your favorites together with me, and choose your digital files, heirloom albums, wall art, or prints. I do light retouching that removes temporary distractions like a blemish, but I will never edit you into a porcelain-doll version of yourself. The goal is always you, beautifully and honestly.

What If January Is Not the Right Time?

There is no wrong season for this. If New Year’s is not the time to invest in boudoir, Valentine’s Day, a birthday, an anniversary, or a random Tuesday when you simply decide you are ready all work just as well. The best time to book is whenever you stop waiting for permission.

Ready to Start 2026 Feeling Like Yourself Again

A New Year’s boudoir session is so much bigger than a photoshoot. It is an experience that can genuinely change the way you see yourself, and it lets you begin the year rooted in confidence instead of criticism. Whether it is a gift to yourself or to someone you love, it is a celebration of self-love, strength, and the quiet power of embracing exactly who you are. If any part of you has always wanted to do this, let 2026 be the year you finally do. I would be honored to guide you through it.
