A Christmas Couples Boudoir Session with Cookies

Los Angeles Boudoir Photography

A Couples Cookie Christmas Boudoir Session is one of my favorite Christmas Couples boudoir themes. There are so many reasons, but first and foremost the holidays are magical, but first and foremost they are all about celebrating your life and the people in it. Christmas is one of the best times to invest in a couples’ boudoir session.

One of the beauties of a couples Christmas boudoir session is how customizable it is. There are an infinite number of themes, so you can choose what fits your relationship and allows you both to feel the most natural. There are so many ways to create the perfect session that captures the essence of your relationship and incorporates the holiday spirit. Couples’ Boudoir sessions will always sound a tad awkward, but they do not have to be. In fact, as long as you stop paying attention to the camera 24/7 they are a lot of fun, and create the most intimate, personal photographs you could get of your relationship.

Today, I will be painting you a picture of a romantic Christmas couples boudoir session with cookies. Who doesn’t love cookies. This session idea builds off one of my favorite couples boudoir session settings, a kitchen. First, I want to talk about why a Christmas couples boudoir shoot is the perfect time do the couples boudoir photoshoot you’ve always had on your bucket list.

If a couples boudoir photoshoot is not your cup of tea, maybe doing a boudoir photoshoot just for yourself this holiday season is right for you!

Christmas is all about symbols of love and community, which makes it easy to incorporate into your couples Boudoir session. This could be as simple as having Christmas lights or a Christmas tree in the background, having a wreath hanging on your front door, drinking cider or egg nog, making Christmas cookies, or decorating a gingerbread house together. If none of those are your thing, you could pull out a bottle of red wine and have a more sophisticated session. Or if you want to dress up in seasonal attire, like an ugly sweatshirt or wearing a santa hat, you are more than welcome to.

Nothing says comfort like matching Christmas pajamas or cozy sweaters. You get to design your Couples boudoir session, so if you want to dress down, wear matching pajama sets and mozy around, that is more than welcome. Additionally, at Eli Boudoir, you are able to choose multiple outfits, so you could select one cozy outfit and one sexier, lingerie outfit. The cozy outfit would be a perfect first outfit, allowing you and your partner to warm up, and providing me with the perfect opportunity to capture warm and natural candid moments.

When I picture a Christmas Couples Boudoir session involving cookies, holiday music is playing in the background. Or if it is not holiday music playing it is your favorite song or a playlist full of songs that hold special meaning to your relationship. You and your partner are singing along to the music, dancing around the kitchen as you start to bake, periodically pulling each other in for a quick kiss. The goal is for you both to act like yourself and forget that I (the photographer) am there. I want to capture all of the giggles, full belly laughs, and all of the sweet and silly moments.

Then after a little while you start to make the cookies, which of course leads to a flour fight.

What is goofier than a playful flour flight?? Your flour flight can be as tame or over-the-top as you want. You can fling flour at each other, running around the kitchen, sneak up on each other and get flour absolutely everywhere. Even better, you can sneak up on your partner with a flour covered hand and grab their face. They will think that you are being sweet and trying to give them a kiss rather than get flour all over them. Then once the flour fight is over, it is time to continue baking. Once the cookie dough is made, y’all can sneak little tastes and have some classic, Holiday spirited fun.

The flour fight could take place while you are wearing matching Holiday pajama sets, your partner’s clothing, or a sexy lingerie set. I recommend having a second outfit ready to go before you get your first covered in flour.

If you would rather not bake together, you could also buy a gingerbread making kit. You can either seriously decorate the gingerbread house or you can be silly. You could still have a food fight with the candy, but it would be easier to clean-up. The food fight could turn into a hide and seek competition, where you try to sneak up on each other and see who wins. Or if you want to decorate it properly, you could see how beautiful you can make your gingerbread house. Personally, I have never been the best at making gingerbread houses, I am too impatient.

If you want to make the gingerbread house from scratch (make the cookies yourselves), that could also be extremely fun. I have heard that it is really challenging to get the cookies just right and usually they end up falling over, but that would also make for some funny photographs. If they did not want to stand alone, you could grab toothpicks to help them stay upright.

Your cookie Christmas couples boudoir session will be filled with laughter, cozy moments. The intimate and playful photographs you walk away with will create permanent memories and always put a smile on your faces. The design of a Christmas couples boudoir session is intended to capture spontaneous, candid moments rather than manufacture each and every pose. Make sure you plan your Christmas couples boudoir photoshoot at least two to three months in advance, if you want to create a meaningful gift in time for Christmas.

As a boudoir photographer, I have poses that will be incorporated into your session as well. So your session will have a mixture of prompted and candid poses. The goal of a Christmas couples boudoir sessions is to enjoy yourselves and memorialize the joy and love in your relationship. Having a prompt or theme that allows you both to naturally interact, typically, creates far more authentic and personal photographs.
