What Should You Wear to Your Boudoir Session?

11 Questions you Need to Ask your Boudoir Photographer

What is a Boudoir session? How is it a Monumental Experience?

I'm a Los Angeles-based Boudoir photographer. As a sexual assault survivor, I have been on my own empowerment journey. And now, as a Boudoir photographer, I want to help other women embrace their bodies and sensuality.

“Loving yourself isn’t vanity. It’s sanity.” ~ Katrina Mayer couldn’t be more relevant—especially on Valentine’s Day. While the holiday often focuses on chocolates, roses, and romantic gestures, it’s also the perfect opportunity to shift the spotlight onto yourself. Aka it is the perfect opportunity to embrace what I am calling Valentine’s Day Self-Love. Here’s a stat that might surprise you: 85% of women struggle with self-esteem at some point in their lives. Imagine if you could take just one day to see yourself in a new light—to honor your beauty, confidence, and individuality. A Valentine’s Day Boudoir session can do just that.

This isn’t just about photographs. It’s about stepping into a space where you can feel empowered and celebrated. It’s about creating a memory that goes beyond the camera lens. Ready to embrace your unique beauty? Let’s dive in.

Valentine’s Day is often about showing love to others, but what about showing up and showing love to yourself? Whether you’re single, coupled up, or just looking for a way to feel empowered, a Valentine’s Day Boudoir session is an incredible way to celebrate you.

Picture this: dramatic, vibey lighting, elegant poses, and a chance to see yourself in a completely new light. A boudoir session is not just a photoshoot—it’s an experience that will leave you feeling confident, radiant, and deeply connected to your own beauty.

If you’re new to the world of Boudoir photography, let me explain. A boudoir session is all about capturing your authentic beauty in an intimate, artistic way. Add the magic of Valentine’s Day, and it’s even more special.

Think romantic touches to the Boudoir set like delicate lace, pops of red or pink, and dreamy floral backdrops. Whether you want to gift the photos to someone special or keep them as a reminder of your strength and beauty, this is your moment to shine.

Here’s the thing—Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about chocolates and roses (though I love those too!). It can simply be about celebrating yourself.

A Boudoir session is the perfect way to do just that. It’s a chance to focus on you, feel empowered, and embrace every part of who you are. All of my clients say their session helped them reconnect with themselves, seeing their beauty and confidence in a brand new way.

Boudoir mini sessions are shorter, more affordable versions of a full session but still packed with all the glam and confidence-boosting vibes. They’re great for anyone curious about Boudoir photography or looking for a quick, luxurious way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

At Eli Boudoir, my Valentine’s Day mini sessions include:

  • A cozy, welcoming studio environment in Los Angeles.
  • Stunning sets with romantic themes perfect for Valentine’s Day.
  • Posing guidance to make sure you look and feel your best.

What do you get?

  • 5 beautiful photographs
  • Up to 2 outfits
  • All for only $250

If this is your first Boudoir experience, here’s how to get ready:

Pick a few pieces that make you feel amazing. Lingerie is an obvious choice for a good reason, it cannot go wrong. But there are a ton of different options if lingerie is out of your comfort zone or you are after a different look. You could pair a cute matching pair with a denim jacket, a letterman’s jacket, you can pair jeans with a cute bra, you can wear a bodysuit, an oversized sweatshirt, an oversized t-shirt and so much more. With any outfit, you can dress it up or down with jewelry or heels.

If you are looking for some reputable lingerie companies here are two of my favorites:

Make sure you are well rested before your session. But whatever you do, do not get a fake tan. These never look good on camera especially when they are freshly done. Get plenty of rest, drink water, and maybe treat yourself to a relaxing bath and stay consistent with your skincare routine.

It’s normal to feel a little nervous, but remember: you’re in good hands. At Eli Boudoir, my goal is to make you feel completely comfortable and confident throughout your session. I always have your best interest and if you feel like you need a breather, I am happy to give you one. I will guide you through your session from start to finish, so you do not need to be scared, although it is completely nerve-wracking.

Here’s something I firmly believe: Boudoir photography is for every body.

You don’t need to look a certain way and there is no perfect body type. Everybody has insecurities, so do not let them hold you back from doing a Valentine’s Day Boudoir session.  Practically nobody I photograph has any professional modeling experience. This is about celebrating your unique beauty and telling your story. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, celebrated, and empowered—just as you are.

Wear whatever makes you feel confident! Lingerie, bodysuits, robes, or even your favorite cozy sweater can all look amazing. Here is another blog post I wrote about all of the different Boudoir outfit options!

Not at all! I’ll guide you through every pose down to your finger placement. I will make sure you look and feel your best.

Mini sessions are 30 minutes. If you do not think that will be long enough for you, then I recommend booking a regular session. My standard Boudoir session typically is an hour and a half to two hours long. Even though that sounds really long, it flies by!

Absolutely! If having a friend there makes you feel more comfortable, they’re welcome to join. However, unless it is a couples Boudoir session, I only let women into the studio. I also must be made aware that you want a friend to join when you schedule your Boudoir session!

Eli Boudoir is based in Los Angeles.

Everyone! My sessions are for women of all ages, shapes, and sizes. I also work with couples for a very special, intimate session!

My style is all about natural beauty and confidence. I aim to capture your raw, authentic self in a way that feels empowering and true to you.

This Valentine’s Day, celebrate the most important kind of love—self-love. A Valentine’s Day Boudoir mini session is more than just photos; it’s an unforgettable experience that will remind you just how incredible you are.

Ready to book your session? Let’s create something beautiful together. You deserve it.

If you go here, you will be  able to fill out my contact form for the mini sessions!

This year they will be held on February 2nd!
