Alluring Couples Boudoir Photoshoot: Make it a Date Night

A boudoir couples’ session is a great way to capture unique, deeply personal moments with your partner as permanent memories you can relive forever. These sessions are perfect for a romantic or adventurous date night. And if you are like me and love lingerie and getting dressed up, but need an excuse, here is the perfect one.
Throughout the boudoir session, you and your partner can wear as much or as little as you want. I recommend starting clothed and throughout the session stripping off clothing until you are both either left in lingerie/underwear or naked. All Boudoir photographers, including myself, will direct you and your partner through guided poses and prompts.

A Couples Boudoir Photoshoot in the Kitchen
Why the Kitchen?
Personally, the kitchen feels like the start of a fairytale or where a pivotal moment takes place in a romantic comedy. Beyond that, it is central to all relationships and people – you can’t exist without food (and coffee). You might have memories of cooking food together, serious or joyous conversations, or maybe you don’t have any core memories that take place in the kitchen.
Let me paint two different kitchen couples boudoir concepts for you:
A Couples Boudoir session can go so many directions, but two of my favorites set in the kitchen are:
A Cozy Sunday
Imagine it is late Sunday morning, you are in the kitchen, making pancakes, feeding each other strawberries, playing your favorite songs. You are wearing an oversized shirt and panties and he’s just wearing those sweatpants you love or she’s wearing your shirt form the night before. While you cook pancakes, you lift her onto the countertop and put some batter on their nose and kiss it off.
Or maybe you start a flour fight and end up running around the kitchen. You put music on the speaker, your favorite song comes on, and you stop to slow dance in the kitchen, soaking in all the love and relaxation you can get. Essentially, it will be a romantic, slow, easy Sunday morning except I am there capturing these moments, the joy, and the intimacy.
A Romantic Evening Cooking Dinner together:
Imagine a romantic evening, you’ve opened a bottle of wine, pulled out some chocolates, and you and your partner are dancing around the kitchen. You are all dressed up, beautiful dress, heels the works. Slowly we strip that back to reveal just lingerie (or whatever you are comfortable with) underneath. Or if you are uncomfortable getting undressed, your Couples Boudoir session could be composed of stolen glances across the room, slow dancing, and intimate moments.
Couples Boudoir in the Bathroom
Why the Bathroom?
Even though it sounds like it should be the opposite, the bathroom is a romantic setting. Usually this space is more confined, increasing your proximity to each other, ideal for capturing tender, loving moments. Obviously, the natural state of your bathroom is not the most romantic, but add in a few candles, a bath bomb, chocolates, rose petals, and a glass of wine.
If you and your partner want to increase the sexy and mysterious element to your Boudoir photographs, water and steam are powerful, you can fog up the glass wall or mirror.
In a bathroom, the options are endless. I love integrating the bathtub, shower, and mirrors in my boudoir sessions. Integrating a towel or robe into your couples’ intimate session is one way to up the ante. If Then you simply relax and follow my guidance.
An Outdoor Couples Boudoir Photoshoot
If you are an adventurous couple or love being outside, doing an outdoor couples boudoir session might be your cup-of-tea.
The location could be somewhere sentimental to you both, or simply somewhere you both love going. It could your favorite beach, mountain, or a quiet part of the garden. Nature is always gorgeous and will make your photographs even more beautiful, if you are not interested in an indoor session.
The scandalous element of an outdoor boudoir session will make your photographs that much sexier. If your house has expansive outdoors, your session could take place there or I will recommend some secluded spots that will give us enough privacy for your intimate session.
A Couples Boudoir Staycation at a Hotel
Hotels carry an element of romance by nature. If you are from Los Angeles, your hotel room can transform your night into a staycation or if you are from out-of-state it will set the mood for the rest of the weekend. One of the best parts about using a hotel room for your couples boudoir session, is that they usually have amazing mirrors and showers to work with.
If you go with a hotel room, make sure you choose a stunning hotel with gorgeous furniture (chairs, cabinets, large windows, spacious bathroom, etc), this will make or break your boudoir session. Additionally, a hotel with beautiful furniture will add variety to your Couples Boudoir photographs.
The ultimate foreplay. A couples boudoir session in a bedroom offers a different level of vulnerability. In our minds it is one of the most intimate places you can be, especially if your intimate couples session is taking place at your house.

Personally, I believe there is no right or wrong place to do your couples boudoir session. The most important thing is that you and your partner are comfortable and having fun. Couples Boudoir is for everyone. There is no defined perfect age, body type, or time with your partner that signals it is time to do your Couples session. Boudoir can capture how your relationship and love for one another evolves over time.
I said it earlier, but I will say it again… this is the perfect date night activity and can only bring you and your partner closer together. The photographs from your boudoir session, will serve as a reminder of the love and trust present in your relationship, and the fun experience itself.
